Mastering is the final artistic step in music production. Good mastering helps give recordings that last little bit of shine, and ensures an album plays through smoothly without volume jumps or unintentionally jarring transitions between songs. Mastering is also the first phase of the manufacturing/distribution process and requires that the “final draft” meets the specifications for manufacturing and digital distribution.
